Get remote help from the BeautyBarn team
We use RustDesk, an open-source remote desktop app, running on our own server at share.beautybarn.in. Connections are end-to-end encrypted, and nobody can see your screen unless you share your ID and password or accept the request.
1. Install RustDesk
Official downloads from RustDesk's GitHub releases.
RustDesk is not on Google Play. Download only from the links above, from GitHub, or from F-Droid. Copies from anywhere else may be scams.
2. Point RustDesk at the BeautyBarn server
Your BeautyBarn contact will give you a server key, either as a config string or as a pre-named installer. Every device needs the key, both the one giving help and the one receiving it.
- Open RustDesk and click the ⋮ menu next to your ID, then Settings → Network. Click Unlock network settings if it asks.
- Click ID/Relay server. If you were given a config string, copy it and click the paste icon at the top of that box. Otherwise fill in the fields yourself:
ID Server share.beautybarn.inRelay Server share.beautybarn.in(or leave it blank)API Server Leave blank Key The key from your BeautyBarn contact - Click OK. The bottom of the RustDesk window should say Ready.
- Leave Use WebSocket switched off. Our server does not support it, and with it on your device cannot be reached.
3. Share your ID when asked
Read your ID and one-time password from the RustDesk home screen to your BeautyBarn contact, or click Accept when their request pops up. Close RustDesk or click Disconnect at any time to end the session.
On a Mac
The first time you run it, macOS asks for three permissions. Allow them in System Settings → Privacy & Security: Screen Recording (so we can see the screen), Accessibility (so we can move the mouse), and Input Monitoring (so the keyboard works). If RustDesk keeps asking, remove it from the list with −, add /Applications/RustDesk.app back with +, then restart the Mac.
On Android
Open the Share screen tab, allow Screen capture and Input control, then tap Start service.
